Rwanda U-18 men’s national handball team will today lock horns with Cameroon in the final of the inaugural Africa Zone 4, 5 and 6 Championship that ends today in the Cameroon capital, Yaoundé.

 

The five-day tournament which started on July 25 organized by African Handball Confederation to attract all countries from the respective zones attracted only Rwanda and hosts Cameroon after South Africa and Congo-Brazzaville withdrew at the last minute.

 

Having lost to Cameroon, 9-38,  in the opening game, the Rwandan team will have a mountain to climb today if they are to claim their first international title.

On Saturday, the team played a friendly game in preparation for today’s game against FAP, a local handball club and won the game by 18-17 however according to Rwanda Handball Federation Secretary General currently with the team, they are ready to make amendments today and put on a good fight in the final.

“The boys were not discouraged by the first loss, they have been working hard and ready to challenge for the title today,” said Ngarambe

Rwanda team is using the tournament as part of preparations ahead of the 18th Men’s Junior African Nations Championship from September 1-10 in Bamako, Mali and the team is expected to leave Cameroon for Mali on August 31.
