CHAN qualifier- June 5
Rwanda vs Tanzania (2nd leg)
RWANDA’S midfielder Haruna Niyonzima has warned Tanzania’s Taifa Stars to expect fireworks in the 2010 Africa Nations Championship final round, return leg qualifier, set for June 5 at Amahoro Stadium.
Niyonzima, who is currently featuring for APR at the ongoing Kagame Cup, believes Amavubi have the upper hand going into the crunch tie.
In the first leg played on May 1, Amavubi settled for a 1-all draw in Dar es Salaam and Niyonzima reckons the away goal could now come in handy.
“We respect Taifa Stars because they are a good side but we have enough firepower to see them off in our backyard. It is going to be a tough but we are prepared to battle,” he said.
Meanwhile, Amavubi Stars have started preparations for the tie. The team head Coach Sellas Tetteh is currently working with 14 players but expects to integrate APR and Atraco players as soon as the Kagame Cup winds up this Saturday.
So far, players in camp include Evariste Mutuyimana (Police), Emery Mvuyekure (Electrogaz), Anwar Kibaya (Rayon Sports), Egide Rutayisire (AS Kigali), Aimable Rucogoza (Rayon Sports), Jamal Mwiseneza (Rayon Sports) and Abdulkarim Gashugi (Police).
Others include Ntamuhanga Tumaine (Kiyovu Sports), Amin Mwizerwa (AS Kigali), Roger Tchouassi (Police), Albert Nyumbayire (Rayon Sports), Theoneste Muhayimana (Rayon Sports) and Abuba Sibomana (Rayon Sports).
In Dar es Salaam, Rogers Tchouassi put Amavubi ahead but Azam’s new signing Mrisho Ngassa equalised for Tanzania.
The 2011 CHAN will be hosted in Sudan.
