Yvan Buravan is a talented upcoming singer, songwriter and guitarist. His first performance was at a junior school talent show back in the day. However, it was until last year that he decided to do music as a fulltime business.
Buravan came to the limelight after releasing – Injyana, a single featuring Gabby Umutare, who introduced him to music. He recently released another hit Malaika, a song that has captured the attention of music lovers not only in Rwanda, but also beyond.
The 21-year-old singer, born Yvan Dushime Burabyo has positioned himself as a force to be reckoned with in music both locally and beyond.
Burabyo says he discovered his music talent in childhood but had never decided whether that’s something he would do as a career.
“I started liking music when I won the ‘Rwandatel Jingle Contest’, a countrywide music talent search that took place in 2009. I was so young, only 14, and so I had to first finish high school,” the singer added.
After winning the Rwf1.5million cash prize in the Rwandatel contest, Buravan knew it was the beginning of his journey in music.
“When I emerged the second winner in this competition, I realised it wasn’t enough to have a talent, but also developing and promoting it was another way to go. So I went back to the choir and this time round, I joined Kigali Music School to hone my skills,” says this ambitious artiste.
His other songs include, Bindimo, Injyana, Majunda, Urwo Ngukunda and Malaika. Buravan recently recorded a cover of Nerea, a song by Kenya’s music band Sauti Sol. The video became viral that he even got an opportunity of connecting with the four-man band lately.
