Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) women’s volleyball team will face tricky El Shams of Egypt in the quarterfinals of the 2016 Africa Volleyball Club Championships today in Tunis, Tunisia.
In Pool A, RRA progressed to the quarter finals after a win against Ndejje of Uganda 3-0 (25-21, 25-21 and 25-21) on Tuesday to finish second with a win-loss ratio of 2-1, behind Carthage of Tunisia (3-0).
On Sunday, RRA won the first game against Algeria Bejaia by 3-1 (21-25, 19-25, 25-17, 18-25) in a thrilling encounter on the opening day, but went on to lose against Tunisia’s Carthage by 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, and 25-07) on Monday.
However, the women tax collectors will need to overcome the superior Egyptian side in order to have a chance of progressing to the semifinals.
The tough El Shams beat favourites and five times African champions Kenya Prisons in Pool B to improve their ratio 3-0, while the Kenyans dropped to 2-1 before booking their berth at the quarters.
Meanwhile, the other teams that qualified include: Pipeline (Kenya), Sfax (Tunisia) and GSP (Algeria).
They joined organizers Carthage (Tunisia), Ahly and Shams (both from Egypt) in the final 8 round due to be held today.
After the rest day, Ahly (EGY) play GSP (ALG), Pipeline (KEN) face Sfaxien (TUN), Elshams (EGY) take on (RRA) and Carthage (TUN) face Prison (KEY).
