Patriots Basketball Club point-guard Aristide Mugabe has urged his teammates to forget defeat against IPRC-Kigali in the last game and focus on the game against APR Friday evening at Amahoro indoor stadium.
Kagugu-based Patriots take on APR, seeking to get back to their winning ways after last Friday’s 70-66 defeat at hands of Albert Buhake’s IPRC-Kigali, who face United Generation Basketball (UGB), also tonight, at the same venue.
Looking to today’s game, former Espoir captain, Mugabe, appealed to his teammates to take the game seriously, if they are to stay in the league title race.
“The league title race is very tight; we are at a point where every game matters like never before this season. We need to forget IPRC-Kigali defeat and concentrate on Friday’s game against APR, it is important that we win, players should understand the situation,” Mugabe told this paper.
On the other hand, the three-time FIBA Africa Zone V champions APR, who stunned defending champions, Espoir 76-64, last weekend, are in buoyant mood to take down another giant, according to head coach Cliff Owour.
On Saturday, struggling CSK will host Rusizi, Charles Mushumba’s UR- CASS will be up against Espoir at UR- Huye campus gymnasium while Didier Bineza’s IPRC-South lock horns with U18 Team in Huye district. Jean Bahufite’s Espoir will return to action on Sunday against Rusizi.
Espoir top the table with 26 points, IPRC- Kigali are second 26 points, IPRC- South stand third with 25 points while Patriots and UGB complete the top five with 22 points apiece.
