Shanel awarded for her film role

Rwandan actress, Ruth Nirere Shanel was awarded as one of the ‘best five’ upcoming actresses by the Belgium based International Festival of Francophone Films (FIFF).

Rwandan actress, Ruth Nirere Shanel was awarded as one of the ‘best five’ upcoming actresses by the Belgium based International Festival of Francophone Films (FIFF).

Shanel also a local Rwandan musician was honoured during her European tour last week. The tour was intended to launch her movie, “Le Jour ou Dieu est parti en Voyage”- The Day walked Away—in Belgium and Spain.

‘The Day God Walked Away’ is a movie about the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in which she plays the lead role.
Shanel told The New Times that she and four other winners will be promoted on various media outlets regarding their acting career as part of the reward for our accomplishments.

They were also invited for the 25th International Festival of Francophone Films (FIFF) due in October, this year.

FIFF is a global cinema project aimed at promoting French movies and linking diverse cultures for economic advantage in their theatre products.
