Hundreds of people flocked Rebero Holiday Inn for this year’s edition of the Barge Party Peoples’ annual Costume Party.
With nearly 400 people in attendance, the crowd was entertained by a mix of art made specifically for the occasion as well as interactive activities, music and dance performances.
Part of the hotel was turned into a wonderland fun-house with clowns and puppets entertaining the people in attendance.
The night kicked off with the sounds of Dj Diplo the Diplomat, Dj Cyber Snack and Gil-o who had the crowd on the dance floor. There was also a thrilling original dance performance prepared for the night by break dancers Poppin’ Chris and Lebron Isaac.
‘A lady struck by lightning’ with a burnt shirt, fire in her hair and a destroyed umbrella looked so convincing and was chosen by the award committee as the best costume of the night. The honorable mention accolade went to a person who was fully dressed as an intore dancer - a Rwandan traditional male dancer.
At the end of the night, people nodded in approval of what the organisers had managed to pull off. “You guys killed it! Thanks for organising the best event around,” said an excited Allie Rene.
According to one of the organisers, Gilbert Mwebaze, they try as much as possible to produce events that offer a difference on the party scene.
“Our aim is to organise extreme social and nightlife events as we have done here. We completely transformed the location for tonight only and we are happy with the turnout,” he said.
