The Police have  urged commercial motorcyclists operating in Gisagara District to take a lead in crime prevention within the district.

The call was made by the district community liaison officer, AIP Marie Chantal Uwambaye, and the in-charge of traffic, AIP Jean Pierre Dusingizimana, yesterday  during their meeting with over 100 motorcyclists operating in Ndora Sector of Gisagara.

AIP Uwambaye particularly singled out drug abuse as one of the crimes that cause insecurity and urged motorcyclists to take a lead in fighting the vice.

“Your work is valuable to Rwandans and must be protected against criminality of any kind. Some criminals masquerade as motorcyclists, yet they are drug dealers, burglars or suspects in other crimes. You should cooperate with Police by reporting such individuals so that together we can overcome crime,” she said.

AIP Dusingizimana urged the motorcyclists to be mindful of road safety.

Speaking on behalf of motorcyclists, the president of KODUAGI, an association of motorcyclists in Ngororero,  Innocent Banguwiha, appealed to his colleagues to heed Police advice.
