Representatives from different gender activist groups in Rwanda are set to join their regional counterparts in the forthcoming regional conference on gender equality and women empowerment slated to take place in South Africa this week.
The objective of the conference is to enable the women share experiences with their regional counterparts and assess lessons learnt in empowering women and advancing gender equality.
According to officials from Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), the meeting will help begin a process of documenting achievements and challenges in empowering women and advancing gender equality.
NPA will facilitate the Rwandan activists selected to attend the meeting.
Women from Pro-Femme-Twese Hamwe, Rwanda Women Network, Seruka, Universities’ Gender Commission and Nkundubuzima will represent Rwanda.
The conference will bring together participants from Angola, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and South Africa the host.
