Rwanda international Salomon Nirisalike has signed a one-year contract extension with Saint-Trond after helping the club earn promotion to the Belgian Jupiler League.

The former SEC Academy and Isonga FC central defender joined Saint-Trond last summer from Royal Antwerp.

After signing the new deal last week, he said “I am happy that I have signed a new contract, I am going to work hard and play as many games as possible which will help me to raise my level. My ambition is to keep playing on high level and I am looking forward do well with this team.”

“I am honored to sign a new deal because it shows that my bosses have recognised my work so I am very excited, and I hope to continue with the good work that this team is doing,” added the 22-year-old.

Nirisalike helped Saint Trond to win the Belgian second division title after beating ASV Geel 4-1 last month and got a promotion to the top league in Belgium.

The former U-17 national team player follows in the footsteps of former Amavubi skippers, Desire Mbonabucya and Claude Kalisa who also played for Saint-Trod.

The big centre back signed for Antwerp for three years in a reported Euros 80,000 from Sec Academy and he played 48 games and scored three goals. He has been a regular for the junior wasps and he has played for Amavubi senior team eight times.
