Reigning champions Police handball club and APR beat Gicumbi and Nyakabanda on Sunday, respectively, to collect maximum points on Match-Day five of the league

Antoine Ntabanganya’s Police side defeated rivals Gicumbi 34-23 at Amahoro stadium while 2010 champions APR beat Nyamirambo-based Nyakabanda 44-30 at Kimisagara youth centre.

APR handball club head coach Anaclet Bagirishya told Times Sport that his target is challenging Police for the league title and sees potential in his players.

“We played brilliantly today, this win is very important for us. We are vying for the league title and I can see that my players are up for the battle,” Bagirishya said.

The victory saw the law enforcers’ side stay top of the league table with 15 points from five games while APR are second with 13 points.

On Saturday, last year’s first runners-up E.S Kigoma, based in Ruhango District, thrashed Karongi-based ES Urumuri 49-33 in Muhanga district.
