The "jegging" era

Jeggings (denim-like leggings) are normally made out of a stretchy thick material usually with fake pockets; they usually look like skin tight jeans. Leggings and jeggings are super-hot right now, mostly because they flatter a woman’s body; but that is if they are worn properly.

Here are some of the ways to pull off a great look in this simple outfit;

•Wear jeggings with longer tops to cover your hips a bit as they can be quite revealing. “A longer top also helps to elongate your torso,” says Jacent Sifari, a vendor at Hamza Fashion Boutique just close to Rwanda Bureau of Statistics in town.

•Pick the right style, Sifari advises. Wear non-shiny and thicker material since they look more modern and also hide bumps and bulges better. One can choose to wear stripes, floral prints or even animal prints.

•Select a complementary shade or wash of jeggings. A dark wash without fading or bleaching is a universally flattering wash and goes with everything from a basic tank to a sweater dress depending on one’s preference.

•Choose appropriate footwear to complement your jeggings. Didier Kalisa, a boutique owner in Remera, advises to keep in mind the length of the jeggings since they determine what type of shoes one chooses to wear. Cropped jeggings can be paired with ballet flats whereas ankle-length jeggings can match with knee-high boots.

•Select a feminine tunic and studded leather belt to offset the outfit especially if it’s blue denim. One can choose to go classic with a black or chocolate leather belt which is perfect for a sprinkle of colour.

•Wear a lightweight jacket over your jeggings. This pulls off a cowboy look, especially if paired with knee-length boots.

•Balance your ensemble with delicate and longer-length necklaces or shoulder length earrings. Opt for one or the other but don’t wear them all at the same time; wearing both at the same time is sure to result in overkill.
