RUBAVU – MP Françoise Mukayisenga has criticised those trying to fault Gacaca courts.
The legislator from Rubavu district was addressing thousands of Rubavu residents who had turned up for the closure of the commemoration week at Nyundo memorial centre.
At least remains of 50 victims which were discovered recently were given a decent reburial, bringing the number to about 900 reburied so far.
Mukayisenga added that there is no basis for some people to claim that there is no freedom in the country. She castigated those saying that Gacaca is a tool used to pin down certain individuals.
The legislator further dismissed claims that there was double genocide in Rwanda. She made calls for rebels fighting in the jungles of the DRC to abandon their failed course, saying the country is free and doing well.
She also criticised people who withhold information about the whereabouts of genocide remains saying, “It is not simple to fight trauma when many people are yet to find the remains of their loved ones.”
