U-15 League: Gihisi, Mugandamure draw as Gatagara beat Nyanza

The inaugural championship started on Saturday in Gatsibo District.

Girls: Abarashi 0-0 Rugarama

Gahisi Football Centre and Mugandamure boys’ teams drew 1-1 on the second day of the U-15 football league in Nyanza District. The inaugural championship started on Saturday in Gatsibo District.

Gahisi took the lead through skipper Kassim Niyomugabo on the seventh minute before Abdou Ndayisenga equalized for Mugandamure on the 42th minute.

In the girls’ category, hosts Nyanza lost to Gatagara 1-2. Maria Rose Muhawenimana and Eugenie Nyiramana scored for Gatagara while Nyanza’s consolation goal was scored by Josiane Umutoni.

On Saturday, Centre Footbalistic Training defeated Gatsibo 2-1in the boys’ category while Abarashi drew 0-0 with Rugarama in the girls’ league.

Gatsibo scored first through Eric Mugisha on the 5th minute however Kiramuruzi based Centre Footbalistic Training team won the tie through second half goals from - Bosco Shema and Fiston Shema.

Action will continue next weekend in Rubavu District. The league that kicked off across the country, is aimed at developing football at grassroots level. The participating teams are mainly made up of players in Training centers and academies.

The in charge of football development at Ferwafa, Antoine Rutsindura, said, “It is new, it is exciting, it is quite engaging for the first time in the history of Rwandan football a multifaceted football development program is underway focused on connecting national teams coaches directly with local clubs to identify and develop players for the future national teams.”
