The Capital Markets Advisory Council (CMAC) has concluded a two week course on capital markets and investment. The fundamental training programme that is offered through the framework of the Securities Industry Training Institute (SITI), serves as an introductory programme for new entrants in the securities industry. SITI is a newly established training institution by the East Africa Stock Exchanges Association (EASEA). The purpose of the course was to introduce the participants to the securities industry in general and in its operating environment in the EAC, CMAC said in a statement. “The SITI training program is aimed at standardizing capital market training for the East African region,” said Celestin Rwabukumba, the Operations Manager at CMAC. The course was initiated on the back of the EA regional integration programme under the Efficient Securities Market Institutional Development programme (ESMID), a project supported by the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The target groups that the programme benefits include practitioners in the capital market, directors of licensed firms and listed companies among others. Rwabukumba said that the training programme is conducted quarterly across East African capital markets. The course was also recently delivered in Nairobi, Kampala, and Dar-es-Salaam. Ends
