AS Kigali 4-1 SC Kiyovu
Ernest Sugira and Isaie Songa scored a brace each as AS Kigali routed SC Kiyovu 4-1 yesterday at the Kigali regional stadium in the National Football League.
Sugira opened the scoring after seven seconds before Isaie Songa added a second in the eighth minute. Sugira converted from the spot in the 18th minute after he was brought down by Aimable Kwizera.
Janvier Benedata netted Kiyovu’s only strike in the 37th minute but Songa’s second on the day granted Eric Nshimiyimana’s side a comfortable victory.
“We are very happy to have picked maximum points and it shows that we are in good form considering the players I have. The performance is improving every other day and it is good that we finished the first round with a win,” explained a delighted Nshimiyimana.
Kiyovu head coach Ali Bizimungu lamented that, “We played without five starters and that affected us a lot because inexperience kicked in today and it cost us the game. We conceded very easy goals.”
APR defeated Sunrise FC 3-1 to maintain a five-point lead at the top of league log with 32 points from 13 matches.
Alex Nkomezi scored for Sunrise but Hegman Ngomirakiza equalized before Emery Bayisenge and Bertrand Iradukunda sealed a comfortable win for the army side.
Meanwhile, struggling Rayon Sports takes on Mukura today at the Amahoro National Stadium while Isonga hosts Musanze at the Ferwafa ground. Amagaju takes on Etincelles in Nyamagabe while Police will be up against Espoir at Kicukiro Stadium.
