APR Coach Egidia Kayitesi has finally conceded that rivals AS Kigali are in the driving seat in the race to lift this year’s title following her side’s 2-3 defeat against Aspej in Rwamagana.
While conceding that the Kigali City Council side has a good chance of becoming the first team to retain the title after Sunday’s commanding 6-0 triumph over Rambura, she also took a swipe at the local football governing body (Ferwafa) for not making sure that host teams prepare appropriate pitches for league matches.
However, a Ferwafa official has rubbished the military side. “That is totally wrong. They (APR) know very well that we closely monitor the pitches and if a pitch is deemed not fit to be played on, we usually change the venue.”
“Besides all the other teams have played on that pitch and none has complained,” the source added.
The second round kicks off April 18.
