Locally renowned RnB singer Mani Martin has finally released his long-awaited second album ‘Icyo dupfana kiruta icyo dupfa.’
The event took place on Saturday April 3, at Alpha Palace Hotel. The show kicked off at 7 p.m with curtain raisers, ‘New Winners’, ‘Snipers’ and ‘Bonfils’, whose gigs were nothing but disappointment to the crowd that booed at them.
Thanks to Peace for his singles, ‘Nakoze iki’ and ‘Mpamagara,’ that warmed up the audience and got the party started.
Mani Martin’s album launch gave chance to many local artists to stand out, and Tom Close was among them. He staged only two songs, his new track with Uganda’s musical Goodlyfe ‘Mama Wabaana’ and ‘Ndacyagukunda’, which saw frenzied female fans running on stage to hug him.
Mani Martin, the host performer was smartly clad in a red waistcoat, white shirt and matching trouser. He did marathon performance of some of his tracks on his new album, including ‘Icyo Dupfana kiruta icyo dupfa’, ‘Mazi magari’ and ‘Mama’.
He also performed with songbird Liza, in their gospel collaboration ‘Mbamo’ before Liza carried on with her solo performance.
The other performers of the day were Miss Jojo, Miss Shanel who well entertained her fans with her dancehall beat plus.
Mani Martin later came back with his ‘Yari Wowe’ pop single and later called on his former back vocalist Patrick Nyamitari to perform their monster hit, ‘Urukumbuzi’.
Rapper Riderman with his ‘Umwana w’imihanda’ single was followed by the eagerly awaited King James. He however just did an acapella of his latest single ‘Inzozi’.
Many artists, including Emmy, Faisal and DreamBoys did not sing because time had run out. The fans also missed Meddy and The Ben who are out of the country and Princess Priscilla who called in sick.
