“All the teams wanted to win, it was not easy but we showed character in both matches we played and we are happy to lift the cup,” said Police head coach Antoine Ntabanganyimana.
Police have also won the national league, Labour Day and Liberation day tournaments. It is Police handball club’s third Carre d’AS triumph in as many seasons.
Ntabanganyimana added: “The team is well supported by the management both financially and psychologically.”
The Rwanda Handball Federation president Theogene Utabarutse said the tournament was well organized despite lack of sponsors.
“We are glad the whole season has gone so well and we hope next season will be even better,” stated Utabarutse.
He noted: “We had planned to raise about Rwf5 million to invest in this tournament but failed to achieve, nonetheless we still managed to organise it.”
