I would love to use this long holiday constructively. Please advise me on how I can best spend my time.
If there is any period in a student’s life which is associated with all forms of temptations and series of confusing evil acts, it’s a holiday. This is because it’s a relief from the past hectic examination load and daily school pressures. What makes it even more interesting for students is that they are normally under no close supervision as it is at school.
However, a focused student can deliberately keep away from any form of unworthy acts and creatively turn such challenges into possible social or business opportunities.
Take stock of your assets and explore the hobbies and the talents to let your minds dwell on them periodically. You are hugely blessed with a multitude of undiscovered talents and competences where you need this holiday to unveil them and put to maximum use. Book reading, sports events, singing and playing musical instruments are just a few examples of the activities you could carryout to discover the hidden talents.
Search for adventures and make them a part of you. For instance you could start small projects like poultry, piggery and weaving. Even without money, your parents or guardians may be willing to support in anyway they can especially if you obey them.
Also, actively participate in domestic work like washing, cooking and cleaning the house because this is the only time when students get to learn such domestic responsibilities in preparation for their adulthood tasks.
Indulge your whims by engaging in some kind of physical exercises for your mental and physical fitness.
Don’t allow your mind and body to be dormant for the devil is waiting to mislead you. Avoid bad company and stay free from vices that come with peer influence like drug abuse, fornication, homosexuality and theft which often have devastating effects on one’s life. Instead create a supportive social network with constructive ideas and live to the high moral standards.
Moving out to tour and view beauty of natural sceneries of creation, visiting grandparents, putting yourself to God’s service in your church, helping the needy and watching or listening to constructive TV and radio programmes are good ways to occupy yourself.

Talk to your parents about your challenge, they will help you identify what is best for you. However, that largely depends on how you relate with your parents. Put the fear away and you will get the required help.
You should avoid being idle by getting something to do so that you make your parents happy. For instance surprise your parents by telling them that you want to go to the village or farm.
Holiday does not mean being redundant but rather means helping out your Parents. Help with washing and cleaning and you will see how happy your parents will be.
