FORMER LEAGUE champions Rayon Sports have released three foreign players ahead of the three-foreign player quota rule next season.

The three players released include strikers Yossa Bertrand and midfielder Govin Mutombo as well as defender Arafat Serugendo.

The development was confirmed by Rayon Sports Spokesperson Aime Emmanuel Niyomusabye on Sunday.

The trio had been included on their 28-man squad submitted to the local football federation for the upcoming season which gets underway on Saturday.

Although Niyomusabye didn’t give reasons for the release of the trio, sources said that Rayon Sports is trying to deal with the number of foreign players currently on their books.

Some of the players who fall in the category of foreign players include; Karim Nizigiyimana, Jerome Sina and Peter Kagabo also known as Peter Otema, who was signed from Police FC last week, Gentil Kambale and skipper Fuadi Ndayisenga.

The club has signed five young Rwandan players namely; Frank Lomami (SEC Academy), Kevin Ishimwe (Isonga FC), Emmanuel Imanishimwe (Aspor), Bernard Uwayezu (Bugesera) and Isaac Muganza (SEC Academy), all on two-year contracts.

Niyonsabye noted that the 2013 champions are keen to win at least one trophy in the 2014/15 season. The Nyanza-based side, who are still on the look-out for a new head coach kick off their campaign against Amagaju FC at Kigali Regional Stadium.
