The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Louise Mushikiwabo, has called on governments to incorporate their citizens when making decisions concerning regional integration.
The Minister, made the call at the closure of a two-day meeting, on Regional Integration and the Establishment of a Sub-Regional Coordination Mechanism (SRCM). She argued that for a successful regional integration, public ideas need to be taken into account.
The high level meeting attracted integration experts from East and Southern Africa.
“We need to get our citizens involved. We need to take this much closer to the citizens that we serve and make sure they are informed and able to provide their own feedback,” Mushikiwabo said.
During the meeting, panellists answered questions concerning the integration processes.
