APR  vs TP Mazembe
(March 20)

TP Mazembe fans have started flocking the streets of Kigali ahead of Saturday’s crucial Orange Champions League tie between their side and local giants APR.

The two sides will face-off in an historic match at Amahoro stadium in the first of two legs of the competition’s second round.

According to reports from DRC, fans from Katanga and North Kivu have started their journey to Kigali via Bukavu, Goma to support their side.

It is however still unclear when Mazembe will jet in the country. The African champions were expected in the country this afternoon but by press time, they had not communicated their travel plans.

TP Mazembe claimed their third African title last year after a lone goal victory over Heartland FC of Nigeria in the final second leg clash of the Orange CAF Champions League final.

Meanwhile, APR continued their preparation yesterday at Amahoro stadium and the side’s skipper Patrick Mafisango maintains that the army side can stun his former side TP Mazembe.

“There is confidence in the side that we can go a long way in this competition.”

APR stormed the second round of the lucrative competition after seeing off Angola’s Recreativo on goal aggregates (3-2).

After a 2-all draw in the Kigali leg, Ivorian born midfielder Selly Rogba Didier ensured APR’s qualification with a 78th minute winner in Angola.
