RUBAVU – Bank Populaire du Rwanda (BPR) in Rubavu district has asked police to arrest one of their employees, Patrick Serugabo, who allegedly disappeared with Rwf33 mi last weekend.
According to the bank’s manager, Jimmy Ndabaramiye, Serugo had been asked to distribute the money to other sub-branches in the district.
“I had left the money with him to distribute it to our sub-branches around here in Rubavu,” Ndabaramiye said. “However, after returning I waited for him in vain then I reported the matter to the police.”
He added that management together with police broke into the suspect’s office but found no money there.
Sources at the police said Serugabo is believed to be in Kenyan capital Nairobi.
“The preliminary investigation indicates that he might not be in the country right now, but we are contacting Interpol to track him,” Rubavu Police Commander, Superintendent Paul Gatambire said.
