50 residents of Nyarugenge District were yesterday trained in environmental management and protection.

The three-day training was organized by Rwanda University Gender Commissions Association (ACGUR) in partnership with Belgian Technical Corporation (BTC) and Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA).

The Chairperson of ACGUR, Julliene Umuhuzo, noted that the training was aimed at creating awareness on the importance of environmental protection.

A Member of Parliament on the Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Environment Commission, Adolphe Bazatoha, said it was important that the environment is protected by the society.

“It must be everybody’s responsibility to protect the environment. Nobody should sit back and watch as our environment is being polluted,” Bazatoha told the participants.
