Last Thursday, Kigali City turned another historical page.
It was all about celebrations—a night to welcome 2010, and kiss goodbye to 2009.
Music fans, artists, senior government officials, the Diaspora, were in attendance.
With different events taking place in the city, the issue was not where to go, but making the right choice.
Bralirwa’s VIP Party
Sizzling talented artists, a smoky stage, and modern lighting system; were the first visual that Bralirwa gave the anticipating audience.
Dressed in a faded jeans and brown jacket, Frankie Joe, who was also the MC of the night, along with Lion Imanzi, got on stage with energy, as the DJ played some of his songs, starting with “Rosaline”.
As he switched from one song to the other; the VIP crowd couldn’t help but imitate a few of his naughty dance moves.
After his performance, Tom Close claimed the dance floor. He too, didn’t do anyone favour, as he kept the crowd dancing wildly, and the girls screaming his name loudly.
Shanel was in this spectacular shiny outfit. She performed only two songs, including “Nakutaka” song, a track she done a collab with Kenya’s finest, Wyre. While Uganda’s hot female artists HB Tonic and Kenya’s Amani did the real thing on the stage, which made everyone give them a standing ovation.
The VIP concert at Top Tower Hotel, located in Kacyiru was amazing. The concert started at 8 p.m and ended in the early hours of the following day, but maintained the same glamour in stage set up and performance.
The event had perfect sound and it was a big plus for local artists to perform alongside regional artists. The event was well advertised, judging by the crowd that turned up and it was a good thing for music fans to welcome the New Year in style.
However, everything was not that perfect, as some ticket sellers, harassed people at the entrance that even Shanel was asked to present a ticket yet she was invited specially to perform—but she was later allowed in.
