Rwanda’s elite golfer Emmanuel Ruterana is desperately looking for sponsorship in order to participate in next month’s prestigious African Open in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The four-day competition which tees off on 7th January is set to attract the cream of African golfers and Rwanda will be represented by Emmanuel Ruterana and MTN sponsored Jean Baptiste Hakizimana.
Ruterana’s manager Robert Kagoro told Times Sport that they are banking on KCB and Bourbon café to bail out the 26-year-old, who has been without a sponsor since the start of the year after his contract with BCR expired.
“We need $14,000 to cover costs like a golf kit, accommodation and paying of caddies for this year.
“And we are hoping that KCB and Bourbon café come to our rescue,” Kagoro said.
Ruterana finished third during the Rwanda Air Rwanda Open and recently won the MTN November monthly mug after carding nine-under par 63 to beat the previous course record of 64.
The former caddie became the first Rwandan to turn professional over two years ago.
