Celebrate with caution

The excitement of the festive season is getting into top gear. The mood across the country is characterized by celebrations with families and friends reuniting after a year of hard work. Because of the celebratory mood, some people forget about their personal safety and became reckless, resulting into situations that could taint this moment of feasting and thanksgiving. This is a period when we witness massive binge drinking, theft, careless driving and all sorts of risky behaviors.

Habitual thieves   consider the festive season as an opportune moment to rob innocent and unsuspecting revelers.

But with more vigilance, this can be averted.
Much as security organs are on the alert to ensure safety for everyone, the onus remains on each and every individual to ensure personal safety and abide by the laws.

Situations where nightclub owners admit under-age teenagers, simply because of the festive mood, should not be allowed. Drunk-driving is not only a violation of the law but also a risk that endangers not only the life of the individual behind the wheel but also the public.

As we celebrate Christmas, it is equally important to reflect on the teachings of this day and draw the important lesson of love for one another, which if embraced, ultimately makes our communities better societies.

Let’s celebrate this festive season responsibly and cherish the memorable experience that it brings along.

Merry Christmas to you all.
