Kisoro regional leaders from Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda have called for continued cross-border interactions and meetings to promote cooperation and tranquillity.
Marking Uganda’s 45th Independence Day in Kisoro district, attended by a delegation of leaders from Northern Province led by Governor Boniface Rucagu.
The Governor called for regional efforts in promoting development in terms of infrastructure, business and measures to fight pandemic diseases such as Ebola.
The Independence celebrations in Kisoro were attended by leaders of the districts from neighbouring countries including the Congo.
Feller Rutachirwa, vice-governor of North Kivu, Congo asked the leaders to embrace collaboration in promoting peace and security.
Residents from Burera district and Kisoro, Uganda are said to be sharing a lot in terms of cooperation especially trade as communication in Kinyarwanda helps to promote relations.
The Uganda Resident District Commissioner David Maseruka said that, whereas the physical demarcations do exist, the neighbouring countries had a common bond.
