Yesterday upcoming and already established musicians stormed Ruhengeri with a concert that was thronged by mostly school going children.

Anticipation and anxiety was evident on their faces as the concert started. At a fee of only Rwf1000, the crowd in a conference hall at Musanze district was unbelievably big.

As the numbers swelled, it was obvious that the room wasn’t tailored to the event.

The poorly ventilated hall caused chaos at the exits and entry points as the bouncers tried to cool off while others gasped for a breath of fresh air inside the congested hall.

Within the hall many drenched with sweat as the music caused rigorous body movements.  As it clocked 10p.m, the crowd started ranting for their favorite artists.

Tired of the MC’s promises, temperatures boiled further when they started booing upcoming musicians who with futility endeavored to put on a show.

Fans continued to demand for Meddy, The Ben and K8 a.k.a Kavuyo; considered to be Rwanda’s most accepted musicians.

It was Kavuyo who hit stage first emerging not from behind stage but amongst the crowd. The rest followed also, from the crowd.

However it was Meddy, a former gospel musician turned secular and The Ben, who got the most outstanding ovations. With their endearing vocal abilities they entertained a previously impatient crowd.
