The Commission for the Fight against Genocide (CNLG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the American Association of Christian Counsellors (AACC), a US-based Community counselling group which will see the group provide trauma counselling services in Rwanda.
The MoU was signed at the Rwanda Embassy in Washington DC between Jean de Dieu Mucyo, the Executive Secretary of CNLG, and AACC President Dr. Tim Clinton as well as Bishop Alexis Bilindabagabo representing Mouvement Chretien pour l’Evangelisation, le Counselling et la Reconciliation (MOUCECORE).
The signed memorandum will see all signatories design a program to support trauma counselling, with the assistance of AACC.
It will also see the parties develop, in line with the Government of Rwanda, a long term plan of implementing a Masters degree in Counselling with an emphasis in trauma.
It will also see the set up of a model counselling centre in Kigali to provide clinical training for Rwandans and a training research centre for those in US who would like to involve in this work.
