JICA to fund Tumba IT programmes

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has pledged to support new ICT training to be undertaken at Tumba College of Technology (TCT). The courses which begin next February include Cisco programs, hardware and software maintenance programs, advanced networking and server operation systems administration course. Also to start in April is software development.

Sadako Ogata, the president of JICA, officially opened the college in June when she visited Rwanda.

“The aim of the project is to strengthen the capacity of Tumba College of Technology as a practical technical educational institute and to develop human resources through its technical education that meets industrial and social needs,” JICA Rwanda’s Kayo Yamada told The New Times.

He said that the activities include the formulation of the College’s operational plan, preparation of curricula, syllabi, educational materials and teaching tools in each course.
