A team from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Association of Africa National Olympic Committee (ANOCA) is set to visit the country on December 1.
According to reliable sources, the visit is aimed at finding a lasting solution to the tension that was recently created when the national Olympics committee (RNOC) was dissolved by Sports and Culture minister Joseph Habineza.
During the visit, the IOC/ANOCA team will meet with Habineza, local sports federations and the ethics and Jurisdiction committee. Early this month, IOC Relations Director Pere Miro advised the sports ministry to respect the autonomy of RNOC or else risk being sanctioned.
The Ignace Beraho led executive was dissolved on grounds of insubordination and refusing to relinquish power.
It is however not known how much impact the visit will have since it will come after the elections of the new executive set for this Sunday.
Former sports minister Robert Bayigamba and Rwanda Tennis Federation (RTF) president Charles Rudakubana are vying for the post of president.
Other candidates include; Phophina Muhimpundu Gashugi and Theogene Uwayo (Karate federation) for the post of first vice president, Eli Manirora (NPC), Jean Paul Munyandamutsa (Athletics federation) and David Mukesha for the post of second vice president, Parfait Busabizwa, Alex Mbaraga and Leo Pierre Nkusi for the post of Secretary General while Thierry Rwabusaza (Cycling federation) and Alain Christian Sekuru are vying for the post of Treasurer.
