MUHANGA - A Gacaca Appeal Court in Nyabisindu, Muhanga district has cleared Pastor Theophile Nkudiye of genocide charges.
Nkundiye, who is affiliated to ADEPR was on August 18, 2009 sentenced to three months imprisonment after court found him guilty of conspiracy to conceal information about the killings in the Pentecostal area.
He appealed the verdict. During the appeal last week, court ruled that Nkundiye had no case after witnesses in the case retracted their evidence.
Over 500 Christians are believed to have been slaughtered in Nyabisindu by pastors and Christians during the genocide.
However, details of the killings have allegedly been blocked by church leaders-and to date remains of most of the victims have not be traced.
