World Cup trophy coming
THE FIFA World Cup trophy arrives in Gaborone, Botswana this morning, three days before its long awaited arrival in Rwanda.
The trophy, which is on a Coca Cola sponsored tour of Africa, left Namibia yesterday where it was hosted by the country’s president Hifikepunye Pohamba.
On its African tour, the trophy is being accompanied by a Chadian FIFA official Emmanuel Marada. The trophy is 36.8cm tall, weighs 6.2kg and is made of 18 carat of solid gold.
The FIFA World Cup is on an 85-nation tour before the June World Cup next year.
In a related development, a number of activities have been organized for Tuesday, the day when the trophy touched down in Kigali.
