I am usually saddened by the stories I read in the local news papers about corrupt leaders. But I’m shocked by the fact that the Eastern Province has such a problem in comparison with the rest.
I don’t think we are naturally corrupt. But we are bound to be corrupted and make mistakes at some point. Some people though are more corrupt than others, and they make things difficult for the rest of society.
In the dock is Theoneste Mutsindashyaka, the former governor, Charles Gasana, the Province Executive Secretary and Alex Mugarura, Gatsibo Mayor Vianney Murego, Nyagatare Mayor Robert Kashemeza, and Chief Superintendent of Police Emmanuel Gakwaya.
I ask, “what is it about this Province that causes this disease”? Can someone please explain this to me?
