Akagera Aviation, a private aviation firm with a fleet of choppers in Rwanda is reaping big from the first ever fun-flights during this years’ international exhibitions in the country.

With only Frw25,000 and Frw15.000 for 15 minutes and 8 minutes flight respectively, many people are taking advantage of flying for the first time.

And, at least 15 to 25 passengers are flown daily.

The company handled 50 passengers on Sunday, the highest, ever since choppers started hovering over Kigali City August 23.

The marketing and sales manager Eve Tushabe said most of their clients are locals who want to have fun.

Besides, she said, the business community who want to deliver their goods at Expo grounds in Gikondo are also hiring the choppers.

She said passengers consider flying in the choppers fancy, time saving and adventurous.

But hastened to add that the most important objective of her company participating in the expo is to create awareness, make contacts, showcasing the service Akagera has and not making high profits.

She was however quick to say many people do not know about their services.

Their services include money transfer, flying tourist within and outside the country and training pilots.

A passenger who had a ride in the chopper said, ‘it was comfortable and windows are left open for passengers to have a better aerial view of the city.” Ends
