According to the global calendar, yesterday 3, November was the international day of disabled people. After the 1994 Rwanda Genocide, the number of people with different disabilities increased. Handicapped children today suffer a great deal. Children with disabilities still lack facilities to make them enjoy their day to day activities. Rwanda in particular still lacks academic institutions where disable children can acquire basic education. Despite the challenges, disabled children have to at least be helped find some activities which can help them overcome the miserable and boring life they live. Children with disabilities need to be helped to join various actives. Keeping them busy helps them develop their muscles and also enjoy their freedom of association. Among the disabilities children have are physical disabilities, sensory, social, emotional and behavioral disabilities. Health problem is also another disability faced by some of the children in our society. This problem may be serious enough to hinder the development of play skills or learning new skills in a child. It is high time a smile was brought onto the faces of the children with disabilities; let us make sure that we engage children in different activities. Help your child feel loved accepted and also have a sense of belonging by sending him or her to school of the disabled. Yes, one may say “I have the will to take my child to any school but where can I find the funds..?” This is absolutely true. Not every parent has the capacity to educate these children. Their education is extremely costly. Government intervention is required to make sure that these children enjoy the best of their life. Schools for the disabled children and other entertainment centers should be set up to help bring a smile on their faces. Help children with disabilities, by supporting them in any way possible. Ends
