Some such cooperatives are, Mpore Dukunde Inzuki that practices apiculture (bee keeping) with 13members and Twisungane Iwacu with 30 members growing vegetables and mushrooms..
James Butare, Head of Programmes and policy in ActionAid Rwanda says that ActionAid started to work in Nyanza in 1997 supporting Genocide survivors especially widows through peace building and relief and emergencies. They constructed them houses, provided financial support, constructed water points and schools which had been ravaged during the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.
