Fifth Annual Social Good Summit to Expand its Global Reach Harnessing the Power of Technology to Achieve Equality for Everyone, Everywhere

The Social Good Summit, a unique two-day conference held annually during the United Nations General Assembly Week to open the dialogues taking place around the UN General Assembly to citizens worldwide, will once again take place on 21-22 September 2014. The Summit will examine the impact of technology and new media on social good initiatives around the world. As part of last year’s Summit, people gathered in nearly 300 cities in 150 countries to discuss how to make progress on local and global issues. Today’s digital landscape is extremely powerful, and when we use social media and technology for good, we can lay the foundations for global change.

The theme for the 2014 Social Good Summit is “#2030NOW: Connecting for Good, Connecting for All”, which will challenge participants to imagine the world we want in 2030 and share solutions, lessons learned, and ideas about how technology and social media can help create it. #2030NOW builds on the UN-led process to craft a post-2015 development agenda that will follow up and accelerate progress on the Millennium Development Goals.
