Morning rituals to supercharge your day

Lillian wakes up at exactly 4am every single day. Before she goes on with her day’s tasks, she sets aside time for prayers, meditation, and journals, then she reads a book and exercises before jumping into the shower.

This is her simple morning routine that sets pace for how her day goes. With it, she says, she is more productive because she is able to focus on her goals and approach life with vigour, mindfulness and strength.

Creating a positive attitude is a great way to jumpstart your day. And the best way to do this is by creating a morning ritual that brings you calm and optimism for the day.

Here are some of the steps that you can incorporate into your routine;

Read

Reading is one of the best habits anyone can adapt for success. It helps in equipping one with information, stretches imagination and inspires creativity and positivity. Empowering your mind in such a way is a great way to start your day.

Journal

This is known for its therapeutic abilities. Journaling is a healthy way of expressing emotions, and in the process, gives chance for self-reflection. Intense emotions can easily affect your mood for the day, however, when you journal, it can help you release unhealthy thoughts and emotions. Drawing out these emotions that would otherwise have been confusing and heavy sets pace for a light and inspiring day.

Meditate

Meditation is known as a practice where an individual uses a technique such as mindfulness or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.

Mediation has increasingly become popular and there is reason for that. It has ability to help one be self-aware, relax the body and soul and this is a nice way to set the tone of your whole day.

Take a walk

Walking is therapy. Nothing is as calming and resting as a simple walk early in the morning. It exercises your body as well as your mind since it has the ability to help improve your mental clarity and ability to focus throughout the day. When you walk, you are also able to think more creatively.

Do affirmations

Affirmations are spoken words of encouragement. These words can help in reprograming the subconscious mind, to help us believe certain things about ourselves. Kick start your day with telling yourself words of encouragement, these will boost your morale and confidence in whatever you choose to take on for the day.

Visualise your future

Planning a life you want is great but it’s not enough. If you want to achieve your goals in life, visualising should part of the process. In the morning when you wake up, set aside a few minutes to practise this and see how life turns out to be. Visualisation, basically, is picturing in your mind how the future will look like if you achieve your goals, the things that you want in your life and how you want to achieve them.

Listen to inspiring music

There is power in starting your day listening to music that inspires you. Good music can have a direct impact on your mood, especially in the morning. When you listen to the kind of music you like, it can help you get into the day’s rhythm. Don’t listen to any kind, choose the type that’s inspiring and uplifts your soul. You can create a morning playlist that you are sure that when you listen to it, it will set a positive tone or ambiance for the rest of your day.
