Sitball World Champs: Rwanda to open against Kenya

Hosts Rwanda will kick-off the defence of their Sitball World Championships title against debutants Kenya. This year’s world championship is scheduled for October 11-12 at the National Paralympic Committee gymnasium and Amahoro indoor stadium respectively.

Hosts Rwanda will kick-off the defence of their Sitball World Championships title against debutants Kenya. This year’s world championship is scheduled for October 11-12 at the National Paralympic Committee gymnasium and Amahoro indoor stadium respectively.

Rwanda will be looking to make the most of home advantage to retain the world title, which they won in Uganda last year. 

The other matches on first day Burundi will face Switzerland; Germany against Uganda and Burundi will be up against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The NPC has received Rwf30m in sponsorship from the Ministry of Sports and Culture. In addition, Bank de Development has contributed Rfw1.5m towards organising the event, Rfw1.5and Sulfo Rwanda Industries will provide water for the participating teams. 

Rwanda’s 12-men team started training almost two weeks in readiness for the tournament.
