Atraco depart for Kagame Cup

JEAN Lomami has been left out of Atraco’s 18-man squad for the upcoming Kagame/ Cecafa club championship which kicks off next week in Khartoum, Sudan.

The striker, who has been central to Atraco’s impressive run in this year’s national league campaign, was dropped by Sam Timbe although the reason is still unclear.

The national league champions, who depart this afternoon aboard Kenya Airways have however been boosted by the return of goal stopper Jean Luc Ndayishimiye, Aloua Gaseruka, Donatien Tuyisenge and Jean Shyaka.

The quartet has been part of the pre-selected Amavubi team preparing for next month’s make or break 2010 World/ Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Egypt.

The length of their involvement in the regional event however remains to be seen after sources close to the Amavubi camp indicated that anyone of the quartet, who makes the final squad for the Egypt qualifier would have to rejoin the Amavubi camp.

Atraco, drawn in Group A alongside Sudan’s El Merreikh, Mathare United and Kartileh of Djibouti open their campaign next Tuesday against El Merreikh.

Group B comprises of TP Mazembe, KCC FC of Uganda, Tanzania’s Prisons and Somali’s Benadir Telecom.
