Kicukiro’s Aspor maintained their winning streak after yesterday’s 2-0 win over Sorwathe.
Aspor’s dominance paid off in the 40th and 60th minutes respectively with goals from Jean Paul Sindayigaya and Amin Muzerwa; a replacement of the club’s top striker Swaib Nkurunziza who is presently featuring in the Cecafa Youth Championships in Burundi.
Despite Sorwathe pulling off some resistance in the second half, Aspor’s backline was very solid and left Sorwathe’s strikers frustrated.
On top of cementing their second spot (34) points in Group B, Sunday’s win also kept the club on course for the quarter-finals.
“As the second round gets to a close, we are getting more confident that we can get past the quarter-finals,” Aspor’s coach Emmanuel Udahemuka said.
Group leaders Musanze moved to 41 points after landing points by default over league drop outs KHI.
In Group A, Electrogaz went on rampage with a 5-0 win over Yellow stars while second placed Amagaju cruised to a 2-0 victory over Interforce.
The top four clubs in each group (A and B) proceed into the quarter-final stage that kicks off in September.
