RWANDA NATIONAL women football team head coach Grace Nyinawumuntu has summoned 24 players to start preparations for the final qualifying round of the 2014 Africa Women Championship.

This year’s African Women Championship will be hosted by Namibia from October 11-24.

Nyinawumuntu’s team which joins camp on Saturday is looking to consolidate their preparations for the final round qualifier against Nigeria.

The She-Amavubi will play against Zambia on May 10 in Kigali as part of their preparations before hosting Nigeria in the first leg on May 24. Zambia on the other hand are preparing to face Zimbabwe in their final qualifying round.

Nyinawumuntu’s team will then face Ghana in another international friendly on June 3 in Accra, five days before taking on Super Falcon in Lagos.

“We decided to play Zambia and Ghana because they have strong teams which will give us the challenge and exposure needed before facing Nigeria in the qualifiers.

“I want to use these matches to improve the level of my players and I believe the two matches will help us in our qualification bid,” said Nyinawumuntu.

Rwanda sealed their place in the final round after defeating Kenya. They won the first leg in Kigali 1-0 before losing the second leg 2-1 in Nairobi but went through on the away goal rule.

Seven teams from the qualifiers will join hosts Namibia for the final tournament from 11-24 October, which serves as qualifier for the 2015 Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada.
