BURUNDIAN COACH Cedric Kaze has resigned from Huye-based Turbo King Football league club Mukura Victory Sport following a string of poor results.

According to Emmanuel Ntakirutimana, the club’s Secretary General, Kaze tendered in his resignation on Monday.

“Kaze personally requested to resign from the club. The club management met on Monday evening to consider his resignation,” added Ntakirutimana.

Kaze joined Mukura on November 1, 2012 and guided the club to a fourth-place finish in the 2012/13 league season and the quarter final round of the Peace Cup tournament.

However, the 2013/14 season has not been successful for the former Burundian international as he only managed to guide Mukura to five wins, four draws and eleven losses in 21 matches played this season. They stand ninth with nineteen points.

The club management has appointed Alphonse Gatera as the head coach. After being sacked from Police, Gatera joined Mukura as the assistant coach in February.

In a related development, the day 22 match of the Turbo King Football League has been brought forward to this weekend following Caf’s decision to give Rwanda U-20 team a bye into the second round of the 2015 Senegal Africa Youth Championship qualifiers.

Three matches will be played on Saturday when Police take on SC Kiyovu at Kigali regional stadium; Espoir travel to Kigali for a return leg against Esperance at Mumena while Gicumbi will face relegation battling side Amagaju in Gicumbi.

Defending champions Rayon Sports will take on Etincelles on Sunday at Kigali regional stadium. Arch rivals APR face Musanze at Kicukiro while AS Muhanga will travel to Rubavu for a date against Marines at Umuganda stadium.

Rayon Sports lead the standings with 49 points and a slim one goal difference ahead of APR while Amagaju and Esperance sit bottom of the table with 13 and 12 points respectively.
