It was pomp and glamour as another fashion house was opened in Remera on Friday.
Christine Creative and Fashion House comes barely one week after another fashion house, Doda, a joint venture by Colombe Ituze and St. Louis Johanne was opened in Kimironko.
The new fashion house is owned by Christine Mbabazi, a 23-year-old student of Mass Communication at Mt. Kenya University and presenter of the popular Overdrive show on Radio 10.
Speaking at the event, Mbabazi shed tears of joy during an emotional speech in which she described the opening of the house as a dream come true. It was a fulfilment of her childhood dream.
“Christine Creative and Fashion House is going to be unique in its own way. It’s going to deliver exactly what the customers want. You are free to walk in, order for what you need and it will be delivered to you within two days,” said Mbabazi
Mbabazi also makes jewellery and other accessories. She said it has been a long walk to ultimately fulfil her dream and told her audience to expect more from her new fashion house.
Mbabazi also talked of the challenges that have stalked her dreams, saying that at first she lacked the necessary support and venturing into the fashion industry was a risk she undertook because of her passion for designer clothes.
Guests were treated to some of her works with a number of Rwanda top models showcasing her beautiful clothes that left guests mesmerised.
Fred Masengesho, one of the people who attended the event, said that it was a memorable evening as this was the first fashion house of its kind to be opened in Remera. He said that this showed that fashion industry in Rwanda has come of age.
