APR Men’s volleyball club head coach Sammy Mulinge has his eyes set on winning the national league title this season after beating rivals Rayon Sports and KVC at the weekend.

Mulinge’s team dominated their two closest rivals in the title race. They beat Rayon Sports 3-1 despite the new league comers wining the first set 25-23 before APR recovered three sets in a row 25-18, 25-19 and 25-19.

In the other group two matches, KVC lost to APR 3-1 and Rayon Sports 3-0 respectively. APR are top of table with 16 points after winning all the eight matches they have played so far.

After the weekend matches, Mulinge believes his team is favourites to win the league, but admits it is too early to call.

“My first priority is to build a strong team, which will compete on a higher level in coming years. We are still a young team and I am happy that we are in the race for the title. Winning this weekend puts us in a better position in the race,” the Kenyan trainer said.
