Kamonyi women’s football club humiliated newcomers Girls Academy FC 13-0 in a Pool B league match played in Muhanga on Saturday.
The Kamonyi-district sponsored side got their goals through Florence Imanizabayo, who found the back of the net six times. She-Amavubi forward Alice Niyoyita netted five, while Mediatrice Abayo and Dorothea Mukeshimana chipped in one apiece. In other Pool B matches, Gisozi-based The Winners were stunned on their own grounds 1-0 by Les Lionnes, while Inyemera beat Huye-based Atletico 2-0.
Kamonyi and Inyemera stand top and second of Pool B level on 20 points after dethroning The Winners, who are one point behind in third place. Les Lionnes occupy fourth position with 18 points and Atletico are bottom with four points.
In Pool A, Rambura won 1-0 against Freedom, while Musanze district-based ESIR were held to a 1-all draw by Don Bosco Gatenga.
AS Kigali, who were not in action this weekend, lead Pool A with 18 points, three ahead of second-placed Rambura, ESIR have 14 in third place, while Don Bosco Gatenga sit bottom with two points.
