The women’s football championship returned to action over the weekend after an eight weeks’ break to allow the national team to compete in the 2014 Africa Women Championships qualifiers.
And there was no change as the top teams in the two groups, AS Kigali and The Winners continue to dominate.
In Pool A, five-time champions AS Kigali secured three points without kicking a ball after their opponents Evening Stars failed to turn-up for the game, while Musanze district-based ESIR won 2-0 against the league newcomers Freedom FC.
AS Kigali lead Pool A with 18 points in six matches, nine points better than second-placed Rambura, who have played a game less, while ESIR and Freedom come third and fourth with seven points respectively and Don Bosco Gatenga are bottom without a point.
In Pool B, last season’s first runners-up The Winners thrashed newcomers Girls Academy 9-0, Kamonyi and Atletico FC drew 1-all, while Les Lionnes hammered Bugesera 5-0.
The Winners lead Pool B with 19 points, Inyemera are second with 14, Kamonyi third with 13, Les Lionnes fourth with 12, Bugesera fifth with 6 points, while Atletico and Girls Academy occupy sixth and seventh positions with a single point each.
